Short Description

Stelbid 5mg/2mg Tablet is used to treat irritable bowel syndrome (symptoms include abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, and diarrhea or constipation).

Introduction

Stelbid 5mg/2mg Tablet is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect or be affected by this medicine.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Stelbid 5mg/2mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Stelbid 5mg/2mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Isopropamide and Trifluoperazine. Isopropamide is an anticholinergic which works by blocking the binding of the acetylcholine (a chemical messenger) to its receptor in nerve cells. This relaxes the smooth muscles in the digestive tract and decreases the spasms. Trifluoperazine is a typical antipsychotic. It works by blocking the action of dopamine, a chemical messenger in the brain that affects thoughts and mood.

Stelbid 5mg/2mg Tablet is prescribed to give relief from the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. A sudden drop in your blood pressure may occur, especially when you first start taking Stelbid 5mg/2mg Tablet. To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. Dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake and sugarless candy may help. Inform your doctor if you have an enlarged prostate gland, glaucoma or trouble passing urine. If you develop any new symptoms or if your symptoms get worse, make an appointment to see your doctor for further advice.
