How it works
Steclav Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria.

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Steclav Dry Syrup?

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Steclav Dry Syrup?
Generally, antibiotics like Steclav Dry Syrup do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions. However, it's recommended to wait until your child has recovered from the illness before vaccinating them.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Steclav Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
Prolonged therapy with Steclav Dry Syrup may require periodic monitoring of kidney and liver function tests to ensure your child's condition remains stable.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Steclav Dry Syrup to my child?
No, giving more than the prescribed dose can increase the risk of side effects. If your child experiences worsening symptoms, consult with your doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Steclav Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No, complete the full course of treatment even if symptoms improve before finishing the medication. This ensures the infection is fully cured and prevents potential relapse.
Can the use of Steclav Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Steclav Dry Syrup may cause diarrhea due to its antibiotic properties, which can disrupt beneficial bacteria in your child's stomach. Encourage plenty of fluids and consult with your doctor if diarrhea persists or is severe.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Mostly not, but antibiotics should only be used under the guidance of a doctor to avoid unnecessary side effects. Consult with your child's doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose can be normal during a common cold, which typically lasts 7-10 days. Antibiotics are not usually needed for viral infections.

Yes, seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences severe allergic reactions (breathing problems, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). These side effects are rare but serious and require expert care.
