Oral Suspension
Spanflox M Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine that is effective against a wide range of bacterial and parasitic infections. In children, it is used to treat infections of the teeth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and genital tract.
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
Spanflox M Oral Suspension is an antibiotic having ofloxacin and metronidazole as its active ingredients. Both these medicines damage the DNA of the infection-causing bacteria, thus killing it by stopping its growth. This prevents the infection from spreading without making the bacteria resistant to further treatment.
If your child develops diarrhea as a side effect, encourage them to drink plenty of water. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help if your child experiences an altered taste. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid to your child within 2 hours of taking Spanflox M Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Discontinue Spanflox M Oral Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Never save the medicine for future illnesses since its effectiveness in future infections cannot be guaranteed.
If you think your child has taken an extra dose of Spanflox M Oral Suspension, seek medical attention immediately. Overdose can lead to serious side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and rapid and irregular heartbeat.
If your child doesn't show improvement despite completing the full treatment course of Spanflox M Oral Suspension, consult their doctor. This could indicate that the medicine is not effective against the infection-causing bacteria, and an alternative antibiotic may be needed.
Inform your child's doctor about any other medications they are taking before starting Spanflox M Oral Suspension. Additionally, consult with their doctor before giving any medication to your child while on treatment with Spanflox M Oral Suspension.
Antibiotics like Spanflox M Oral Suspension generally do not interact with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions. However, it is recommended that children recover from their illness before getting vaccinated.
Inform your child's doctor about any pre-existing medical conditions such as heart disease, genetic disorders involving blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy, neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. This will help the doctor monitor potential complications.
This is a harmless side effect caused by the active ingredient metronidazole in Spanflox M Oral Suspension. It should subside once the treatment is completed.
No, it's not recommended to give Spanflox M Oral Suspension with cough and cold medications as it can interfere with their effectiveness.
