If you use Somifiz 20mg Tablet for more than three months, certain long-term side effects may appear. The most important of these is a low level of magnesium in your blood. This can lead to feelings of fatigue, confusion, dizziness, shakiness, or lightheadedness. You may also experience muscle twitches or an irregular heartbeat. If the use continues for more than a year, you may have a higher risk of bone fractures, stomach infections, and vitamin B12 deficiency. Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to anemia, which might cause fatigue, weakness, or pale skin. Additionally, you may feel palpitations, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, indigestion, loss of appetite, flatulence (gas), or nerve problems such as numbness, tingling, or difficulty walking.
Stopping Somifiz 20mg Tablet abruptly might lead to an increase in acid production, potentially worsening your symptoms. Therefore, you must discuss any dose changes or discontinuation plans with your doctor.
Weight gain is reported in less than 1% of patients taking Somifiz 20mg Tablet, but the exact reason for this is unknown. One possible explanation is an increase in food intake once the reflux symptoms are relieved. Lifestyle modifications like a healthy diet and exercise can help prevent weight gain.
