Smuth Capsule is a combination of two medicines: Docusate and Calcium Dobesilate. Docusate is a lubricant laxative which helps retain water and fat in the stools making them soft slippery and easier to pass. Calcium Dobesilate is a vasoprotective medicine which works on the walls of the small blood vessels and reduces their leakage and fragility. It also improves blood flow by decreasing viscosity/thickness of blood thereby relieving inflammation (redness and swelling) in piles/ hemorrhoids and promoting healing.
Smuth Capsule is prescribed for short-term relief from constipation. A fiber-rich diet (wholegrain bread and cereals, fruit and green leafy vegetables) with six to eight full glasses of water each day and daily exercise are important in maintaining healthy bowel function. Do not take any other laxative along with Smuth Capsule without consulting your doctor. Sometimes certain medicines like iron tablets, antibiotics might cause constipation. Inform your doctor if you are taking any of them.
