Simspas Oral Drops is used to treat stomach pain, bloating, abdominal cramps, and pain associated with excessive acidity, gas, infections, and gastrointestinal tract diseases.
Oral Drops
Simspas Oral Drops is commonly prescribed for the treatment of stomach pain, bloating, and abdominal cramps. It is effective in managing pain associated with excessive acidity, gas, infections, and gastrointestinal tract diseases. Additionally, it helps control symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome by relaxing the muscles of the gut and absorbing extra gas. While generally safe, it is important to consult a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment, especially in children.
Administer the prescribed dosage of Simspas Oral Drops to your child as directed by the doctor. Ensure to follow the doctor's instructions carefully.
Simspas Oral Drops contains Dicyclomine, an antispasmodic agent, and Simethicone, an antifoaming medicine. Dicyclomine works by relaxing the muscles in the stomach and gut, stopping sudden muscle contractions and relieving abdominal cramps and pain. Simethicone disintegrates gas bubbles, allowing easy passage of gas.
Inform your doctor if you experience severe or long-lasting pain in your stomach. Give your child a diet that is rich in fiber and low in fermentable sugars. Avoid giving gas-producing foods to your child such as beans, onions, carrots, raisins, and bananas. Encourage your child to exercise daily as it has potential benefits in constipation and in improving overall wellbeing. In children less than 2 months of age, do not give Simspas Oral Drops without ruling out the reasons that might be making your child cry. Give Simspas Oral Drops only if your child shows actual signs of abdominal discomfort or pain after consulting your child’s doctor. Children may experience abdominal pain due to migraines. The other associated symptoms can be a headache, nausea, anorexia, vomiting, and pallor. Since Simspas Oral Drops is strictly for abdominal pain, rule out such types of pain before giving this medicine.
The symptoms your child is describing - abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light - could indicate abdominal migraine, a recurring condition characterized by recurrent episodes of dull or moderate to severe abdominal pain lasting for at least six months. The pain typically occurs in the midline or is poorly localized. It's important to first rule out any possible causes of abdominal pain before considering using Simspas Oral Drops.
A doctor may recommend an abdominal ultrasound for a routine examination. In more serious cases, endoscopy and esophageal pH monitoring may also be considered.
Simspas Oral Drops should not be used in conditions involving obstruction or inflammation of the digestive tract, such as heartburn, unstable cardiovascular disease, obstructive uropathy, glaucoma, muscle weakness disorder, liver impairment, hyperthyroidism, neuropathy, and kidney impairment.
Simspas Oral Drops may interact with other medications or substances. Before starting Simspas Oral Drops, tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking. Always consult with your child’s doctor before administering any medication.
Simspas Oral Drops should be kept at room temperature in a dry place, away from direct sunlight or heat. Ensure all medications are out of the reach and sight of children to prevent accidental ingestion.
