Suspension
Serlox M Suspension is an antibiotic medicine that is effective against a wide range of bacterial and parasitic infections. In children, it is used to treat infections of the teeth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and genital tract.
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
Serlox M Suspension is an antibiotic having ofloxacin and metronidazole as its active ingredients. Both these medicines damage the DNA of the infection-causing bacteria, thus killing it by stopping its growth. This prevents the infection from spreading without making the bacteria resistant to further treatment.
If your child develops diarrhea as a side effect, encourage them to drink plenty of water. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help if your child experiences an altered taste. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid to your child within 2 hours of taking Serlox M Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Discontinue Serlox M Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Never save the medicine for future illnesses since its effectiveness in future infections cannot be guaranteed.
While an extra dose of Serlox M Suspension is unlikely to cause harm, it is crucial to seek medical attention immediately if you suspect an overdose. Overdose can lead to severe side effects, including seizures, tremors, severe headaches, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and rapid and irregular heartbeat. If you notice any of these symptoms, consult your child's doctor without delay.
If your child does not show improvement after taking Serlox M Suspension for the recommended duration, it may indicate that the medicine is not effective against the infection-causing bacteria. In this case, consult your child's doctor, who may prescribe an alternative antibiotic with a more targeted action against the infection-causing bacteria.
Serlox M Suspension may interact with other medicines or substances. Before starting treatment, inform your child's doctor about any other medications your child is taking. Additionally, consult with your child's doctor before giving any other medicines to your child.
Antibiotics like Serlox M Suspension usually do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, it is recommended to wait until your child has recovered from the illness before getting vaccinated. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be administered.
Inform your child's doctor if your child has a history of heart disease, genetic disorders affecting blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy, neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. This is because Serlox M Suspension may exacerbate these conditions, leading to complications.
Yes, it is normal. The active ingredient metronidazole in Serlox M Suspension can cause red-brown urine, which is a harmless side effect. This will resolve once the treatment is completed.
No, do not give Serlox M Suspension with cough and cold medicines, as it may interfere with their effectiveness.
