Dosage Form
Dry Syrup
Introduction
Seraxim O Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that treats bacterial infections that may affect your child's eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, bone and joints, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. It can also be used in treating typhoid fever in children and adolescents.
Directions for Use
Give this medicine with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.
How it works
Seraxim O Dry Syrup contains two antibiotics. Cefixime works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) while ofloxacin directly interacts with the genetic material of bacteria. As a consequence, the infection-causing bacteria stop growing further and the spread of the infection is successfully arrested.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Seraxim O Dry Syrup as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Only give Seraxim O Dry Syrup to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child's doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.

Are there any possible serious side effects of Seraxim O Dry Syrup?
Serious side effects associated with this medicine include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergic reactions, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. Always consult your child's doctor in case you encounter these issues.
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Seraxim O Dry Syrup?

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Seraxim O Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics typically don't interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, it is recommended to avoid giving a vaccine until your child has recovered from their illness. Once the child feels better, they can be vaccinated.
Can Seraxim O Dry Syrup impact my child's digestion?
Children often experience digestive upset when taking antibiotics. These antibiotics may kill both good and bad bacteria in their gut, increasing the risk of other infections. If your child is experiencing diarrhea while on Seraxim O Dry Syrup, do not stop the medication course. Instead, contact your child's doctor for further guidance.
Can Seraxim O Dry Syrup lead to bacterial resistance in my child?
Yes, bacteria responsible for infections can develop resistance to Seraxim O Dry Syrup due to factors like irregular dosing, unnecessary repeated use, and improper usage. This leads to resistant bacteria that are no longer killed by the antibiotic and may result in reinfection.
What should I tell the doctor before giving Seraxim O Dry Syrup to my child?
Before administering this medicine, inform the doctor if your child has any pre-existing heart conditions, genetic disorders involving blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (allergic reaction to sunlight), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. This is because there might be a higher risk of complications from these existing medical issues when using Seraxim O Dry Syrup.
