How it works
Semox DDS Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Semox DDS Dry Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Semox DDS Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Semox DDS Dry Syrup?
Semox DDS Dry Syrup may interact with other medications. Tell your child's doctor about all medications they are taking before starting this treatment. It is also important to seek guidance from your child's doctor before administering any medication to a child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Semox DDS Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics do not usually interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently received them. However, it is best to avoid giving a vaccine until your child recovers from the illness if they are undergoing antibiotic therapy. Once your child feels better, the doctor can administer the appropriate vaccines.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Semox DDS Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
The doctor might perform periodic kidney and liver function tests to monitor your child's condition during prolonged treatment with Semox DDS Dry Syrup.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Semox DDS Dry Syrup to my child?
No, exceeding the recommended dosage of this medication can increase the likelihood of side effects. If your child experiences worsening symptoms, please consult with their doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Semox DDS Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No, do not discontinue this medication unless you've completed the full course of treatment, even if your child feels better. Symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. Therefore, continue the prescribed dosage for the entire duration as it may still exhibit beneficial effects.
Can the use of Semox DDS Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Semox DDS Dry Syrup can cause diarrhea. This is due to its antibiotic nature, which helps kill harmful bacteria. It also affects the beneficial bacteria in your child's stomach, potentially causing diarrhea. If your child experiences diarrhea, encourage them to drink adequate fluids and contact their doctor if it persists or you notice signs of dehydration such as reduced urination with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine. Do not administer any additional medication without consulting a physician.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most viral infections do not lead to bacterial infections, and antibiotics should not be used for this reason. It's important to consult your child's doctor before prescribing any medication.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green nasal discharge is not necessarily indicative of a bacterial infection. It's normal for the mucus to thicken and change color during a common cold, usually lasting 7 to 10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
If your child experiences severe allergic reactions (breathing difficulties, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, pallor, vomiting), seek immediate medical attention from their doctor. While rare, these side effects are serious and require professional intervention.
