Key Information

Short Description

Sarimox-CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract.

Dosage Form

Dry Syrup

Introduction

Sarimox-CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.

Directions for Use

Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.

How it works

Sarimox-CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria.

Quick Tips

Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Sarimox-CV Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. Do not give Sarimox-CV Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Check ‘expiry’ before giving Sarimox-CV Dry Syrup to your child. Immediately discard all the expired medicines.

Frequently asked questions

Can other medicines be given at the same time as Sarimox-CV Dry Syrup?

It is important to discuss all medications your child is taking with their doctor before starting Sarimox-CV Dry Syrup. This is to ensure there are no potential interactions between the two.

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Sarimox-CV Dry Syrup?

Generally, antibiotics do not interfere with vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children. However, it's essential to ensure your child receives adequate recovery from the illness before vaccination. Once your child feels better, they can be given a vaccine.

Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Sarimox-CV Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?

Periodically, depending on the duration and individual case, doctors may monitor kidney and liver function to assess your child's overall health.

Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Sarimox-CV Dry Syrup to my child?

Giving a higher dose of this medicine can increase the risk of side effects. If your child experiences increased symptoms, please consult their doctor.

Can I stop giving Sarimox-CV Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?

Do not stop giving this medicine until the complete course is completed, even if your child feels better. Symptoms may improve before the infection is fully cured. Therefore, continue the prescribed medication for the specified duration to potentially achieve continued benefits.

Can Sarimox-CV Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?

Yes, Sarimox-CV Dry Syrup can cause diarrhea due to its antibiotic properties that affect both harmful and beneficial bacteria in the stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. If diarrhea persists or you notice signs of dehydration like reduced urination with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine, seek advice from your doctor.

Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?

Viruses rarely lead to bacterial infections. Antibiotics should not be prescribed for viral infections as this can increase the risk of side effects. Seek guidance from your child's doctor before prescribing antibiotics.

The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?

Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not necessarily indicate a bacterial infection, particularly during a common cold. During a common cold, the mucus tends to thicken and change color. Symptoms often resolve within 7-10 days.

Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?

Seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences severe allergic reactions (breathing difficulties, skin rash), gastrointestinal distress (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). These are rare but critical side effects requiring urgent care from a medical professional.
