Breastfeeding Warning

Salphin Lotion is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Pregnancy Warning

Pregnancy Warning

Salphin Lotion may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.

How it works

Salphin Lotion is a combination of two medicines: Clobetasol and Salicylic Acid. Clobetasol is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy. Salicylic Acid is a keratolytic medicine which breaks down keratin clumps, removes dead skin cells and softens the skin. It also enhances the absorption of Clobetasol into the skin.

Quick Tips

Apply to the affected areas as a thin film two or three times daily or as advised by your doctor. Don't cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor as this may increase the risk of side effects. After you have applied Salphin Lotion, remember to wash your hands (unless your hands are the treated area). Use a mild moisturizer regularly to overcome the skin dryness during the course of treatment. Consult your doctor if your skin condition has not improved after 2 weeks of treatment.

Frequently asked questions

How to use Salphin Lotion?

For optimal usage, follow the instructions provided by your healthcare professional or the accompanying medication leaflet. Apply a thin and sufficient layer of the medication to affected areas. Generally, Salphin Lotion is applied twice or thrice daily to the affected skin zones. Always wash your hands after using Salphin Lotion unless it's being used for treating hand-related infections.

Can I stop using Salphin Lotion when my symptoms are relieved?

No, do not discontinue use of Salphin Lotion until the full course is completed. Even if you experience symptom relief, your illness may still require treatment before complete recovery.

What are the precautions that need to be taken while using Salphin Lotion?

Avoid applying Salphin Lotion to the face. Do not use it for a longer duration than recommended. Do not apply a bandage or dressing over the area being treated, as this may increase absorption and elevate the risk of side effects. This medication should only be used by the patient and should not be shared with others, even if they have similar symptoms.

Will Salphin Lotion be more effective if taken more than prescribed?

No, overusing Salphin Lotion will not improve its effectiveness. Excessive use may lead to an increased amount of the medication being absorbed into your body, potentially resulting in skin thinning or weakening and other serious side effects. If you're experiencing a worsening of your symptoms, contact your healthcare professional for re-evaluation.

What are the instructions for storage and disposal of Salphin Lotion?

Store this medicine in its original packaging, tightly sealed. Follow the storage instructions on the medication label. Dispose of unused medication safely, ensuring it is not consumed by pets, children, or other individuals.
