Dry Syrup
Introduction
Salmix O Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that treats bacterial infections that may affect your child's eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, bone and joints, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. It can also be used in treating typhoid fever in children and adolescents.
Directions for Use
Give this medicine with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.
How it works
Salmix O Dry Syrup contains two antibiotics. Cefixime works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) while ofloxacin directly interacts with the genetic material of bacteria. As a consequence, the infection-causing bacteria stop growing further and the spread of the infection is successfully arrested.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Salmix O Dry Syrup as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Only give Salmix O Dry Syrup to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child's doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.

They will provide guidance on managing any potential side effects or complications.
Are there any possible serious side effects of Salmix O Dry Syrup?
Serious adverse events associated with this medication include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergic reactions (allergies), diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. It is vital to contact your child's healthcare provider if you notice any such symptoms.

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Salmix O Dry Syrup?
Generally, antibiotics do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children who have received vaccines. Once your child shows improvement, discuss vaccination with their doctor for appropriate scheduling.
Can Salmix O Dry Syrup impact my child’s digestion?
Children often experience gastrointestinal upset while taking antibiotics as they can disrupt the balance of bacteria in the digestive system. This disruption may increase the risk of further infections. Can Salmix O Dry Syrup lead to bacterial resistance in my child?
Prolonged use of Salmix O Dry Syrup or incorrect dosing can contribute to antibiotic resistance. If your child has not recovered fully from their infection after treatment, it's crucial to avoid unnecessary repeat prescriptions and follow healthcare provider recommendations for appropriate dosage.
