Saliderm F Ointment is a combination of three medicines: Fluocinolone acetonide, Benzoic Acid, and Salicylic Acid. Fluocinolone acetonide is a steroid medicine that blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen, and itchy. Benzoic Acid is an antiseptic, and Salicylic Acid is a keratolytic medicine that breaks down keratin clumps, removes dead skin cells, and softens the skin. It also enhances the absorption of Fluocinolone acetonide into the skin.
You have been prescribed Saliderm F Ointment for the treatment of dermatitis. It may take several weeks to show its action. Keep using it as suggested by your doctor. Apply it as a thin layer onto a clean, dry, unbroken infected area of skin. Don't cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get the cream in these areas.
