S Oflo OR Oral Suspension is an antibiotic used to treat acute diarrhea caused by bacterial infections in children.
Oral Suspension
S Oflo OR Oral Suspension is usually given to children to treat acute diarrhea caused due to bacterial infections. It helps relieve the symptoms, severity, and duration of illness by killing the diarrhea-causing microorganism and reducing the loss of water and electrolytes.
Give S Oflo OR Oral Suspension only for whom it is prescribed. Never share the medicines as it can harm. Do not mix S Oflo OR Oral Suspension along with any other herbal or ayurvedic medicine as that may cause unwanted side effects.
S Oflo OR Oral Suspension contains two medicines: Racecadotril and ofloxacin. Racecadotril is an enkephalinase inhibitor that has anti-secretory effects, reducing the secretion of water and electrolytes from the intestine. Ofloxacin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing them from reproducing and causing infection.
Loose, watery diarrhea can lead to loss of fluids and essential salts from your child's body. Make sure to replenish this in the form of ORS (Oral rehydration solution) to combat dehydration. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking S Oflo OR Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Give S Oflo OR Oral Suspension only for whom it is prescribed. Never share the medicines as it can harm. Do not mix S Oflo OR Oral Suspension along with any other herbal or ayurvedic medicine as that may cause unwanted side effects. Do not give S Oflo OR Oral Suspension if your child has persistent uncontrolled vomiting as this medicine will not be absorbed.
While an extra dose of S Oflo OR Oral Suspension is unlikely to cause harm, it is essential to consult your child's doctor immediately if you suspect an overdose. Overdose may lead to severe side effects, such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and palpitations (irregular heartbeat).
It is not recommended to administer S Oflo OR Oral Suspension to children with a dairy product/milk intolerance, as it contains lactose.
S Oflo OR Oral Suspension may interact with other medications or substances. Inform your child's doctor about any other medications your child is taking before starting S Oflo OR Oral Suspension. Additionally, consult with your child's doctor before giving any medication to your child.
Antibiotics typically do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not receive vaccinations until they have recovered from their illness. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be administered.
The use of S Oflo OR Oral Suspension in chronic diarrhea has not been adequately studied. Therefore, it is recommended to consult your child's doctor before administering any medication to your child.
