Ryphen 300mg Tablet ER is an antiepileptic medication used to treat and prevent epilepsy (seizures). It controls seizures by decreasing the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain. It is important to take this medicine regularly as directed by your doctor to prevent seizures.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Ryphen 300mg Tablet ER may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Ryphen 300mg Tablet ER is an antiepileptic medication. It controls seizures or fits by decreasing the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.
Take your medication regularly as directed by your doctor as missing doses can trigger seizures. Do not change the brand of your medicine and make sure that you have sufficient amount of medicine present with you. It may cause dizziness and sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how it affects you. It may increase blood sugar levels. Inform your doctor if you are taking any medicines to treat diabetes. It may cause swollen gum (gum hypertrophy) hence take care of oral or dental hygiene.
On average, Ryphen 300mg Tablet ER may stay in your system for 5-6 days. This duration can vary from person to person and might last up to 9-10 days in some cases.
Suddenly stopping Ryphen 300mg Tablet ER can cause a life-threatening condition called status epilepticus. Please consult your doctor before stopping the medication, and they will help reduce the dosage gradually.
Overdose of Ryphen 300mg Tablet ER may cause jerky eye movements (nystagmus), unclear speech, loss of balance, tremor, muscle stiffness or weakness, nausea, vomiting, lightheadedness, fainting, blurred vision, slow and shallow breathing, and even coma. Overdose can also lead to very low blood pressure and respiratory problems, potentially leading to death.
You should not take Ryphen 300mg Tablet ER if you have liver disease, particularly if you have a history of developing liver problems while taking this medication. Similarly, patients taking Delavirdine (a medication used to treat HIV) should avoid Ryphen 300mg Tablet ER as it may reduce the effectiveness of Delavirdine and potentially lead to the virus becoming resistant to Delavirdine.
Ryphen 300mg Tablet ER can be taken with ibuprofen. No drug-drug interactions have been reported between the two medications, but it's recommended to consult your doctor for a personalized assessment.
Common side effects in children taking Ryphen 300mg Tablet ER include jerky eye movements (nystagmus) and excessive gum growth. In some children, Ryphen 300mg Tablet ER can cause problems with thinking or behavior, mood changes, slow or clumsy movement, or a loss of energy. Other side effects from high doses may include unsteadiness in the feet and hands, sleepiness, and vomiting. These side effects often subside when the dose is gradually reduced.
There's no documented evidence of Ryphen 300mg Tablet ER causing weight gain. However, some individuals may experience unintended weight loss with long-term use at a higher dose.
Ryphen 300mg Tablet ER can lead to drowsiness (sedation, somnolence, and fatigue). If you experience excessive sleepiness after taking this medication, especially during the initial weeks of treatment or following a dosage increase, consult your doctor. They may advise against driving or operating machinery until they confirm that it doesn't affect your ability to do so safely.
Ryphen 300mg Tablet ER can negatively impact the effectiveness of oral contraceptives. It may decrease the contraceptive's effect and lead to less reliable birth control.
