How it works
Rlavixo Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Rlavixo Dry Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Rlavixo Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. Do not give Rlavixo Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Check ‘expiry’ before giving Rlavixo Dry Syrup to your child. Immediately discard all the expired medicines. Stop Rlavixo Dry Syrup immediately if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulty. Report to the doctor without any delay.

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Rlavixo Dry Syrup?
Rlavixo Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. It is important to inform your child's doctor about all other medications they are taking before starting this medication. Consult your child's healthcare professional for guidance on administering any medicine to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Rlavixo Dry Syrup?
Most vaccinations do not interfere with the ingredients in Rlavixo Dry Syrup, and there is no known negative reaction. However, children taking antibiotics should delay vaccination until they are fully recovered from their illness. When your child feels better, they can receive the vaccine.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Rlavixo Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
The doctor may periodically conduct kidney and liver function tests during extended therapy to monitor your child's condition.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Rlavixo Dry Syrup to my child?
Giving more than the recommended dose of this medication can increase the risks of side effects. If your child experiences worsened symptoms, consult your doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Rlavixo Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No, do not stop giving this medication unless you've finished the prescribed course. Even if your child feels better, the symptoms may improve before the infection is fully cured. Continue with the medicine as per instructions until the full course is completed.
Can the use of Rlavixo Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Rlavixo Dry Syrup can cause diarrhea. This is because it's an antibiotic that kills bacteria. Additionally, this medication may affect beneficial bacteria in your child's stomach and lead to diarrhea. Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids if they experience diarrhea. Consult a doctor if the diarrhea persists or if you notice signs of dehydration like infrequent urination with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine. Do not give your child any other medicine without consulting your doctor.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most viral cold cases do not lead to bacterial infections. Antibiotics should only be used after consulting a healthcare professional. They may increase the risk of side effects if administered unnecessarily.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not automatically mean that antibiotics are needed, especially for common colds. During a common cold, mucus may thicken and change color. Symptoms typically last 7 to 10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). These side effects are serious and require expert medical attention.
