Tablet
Introduction
Rixar 15 Tablet is commonly used in patients with irregular heart rhythm (atrial fibrillation) to prevent clot formation. It also reduces the risk of getting clots in people who have undergone knee or hip replacement surgeries. It may be taken with or without food. Take it at the same time each day for maximum benefits. You may need to take this medicine for many years even for life in some cases. Do not stop taking it or change the dose without guidance from your doctor. It could quickly put you more at risk of having a heart attack, stroke, or thrombosis (formation of a blood clot within a blood vessel). You can reduce your risk of having a blood clot by making changes to your lifestyle such as not smoking, eating a healthy diet, getting regular exercise, and losing weight if you need to.
Directions for Use
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Rixar 15 Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
How it works
Rixar 15 Tablet is a novel oral anticoagulant (NOAC). It works by stopping a clotting factor called factor Xa from working. This helps prevent the formation of blood clots in the body.
Quick Tips
For best results take Rixar 15 Tablet at the same time every day. It is better to take at night with meals. It interacts less with food or other medicines. Frequently asked questions
What are the side effects of Rixar 15 Tablet?
Common side effects of Rixar 15 Tablet include prolonged or excessive bleeding, breathlessness (which may indicate bleeding), weakness, fatigue, paleness, dizziness, and headaches. Other side effects can be severe skin reactions and allergic responses, bruising, coughing up blood, bleeding from the skin or under the skin, and swelling in the limbs. Rixar 15 Tablet may also increase bilirubin levels and decrease platelet counts. Some people may experience fainting episodes, faster heart rate, and dry mouth. If you experience any side effects, contact your doctor immediately.
Is Rixar 15 Tablet a blood thinner?
Yes, Rixar 15 Tablet is a blood thinner. It works by preventing blood clotting within the bloodstream. It also prevents blood clots from recurring in the blood vessels. This medication may be prescribed to treat blood clots in the veins of the legs and in the blood vessels of the lungs.
Is Rixar 15 Tablet dangerous?
Rixar 15 Tablet offers several benefits, but it has a tendency to increase bleeding risk, even from minor injuries, by reducing blood clotting ability. It is crucial to monitor for potential serious bleeding, especially in those taking other blood-thinning medications concurrently. If you notice any bleeding, contact your doctor immediately.
What foods should I avoid if I am on blood thinners?
Grapefruit and grapefruit juice should be avoided while taking Rixar 15 Tablet as they contain compounds that slow down the metabolism of the medication and increase bleeding risk. For individuals taking other blood thinners like warfarin, certain food items that influence vitamin K activity or clotting mechanisms may need to be avoided (e.g., spinach, brussels sprouts, mustard greens, broccoli, asparagus, and green tea). However, these foods are not strictly restricted for Rixar 15 Tablet users.
