Common side effects of Rivarox V 2.5mg Tablet include prolonged or excessive bleeding, shortness of breath (which may be a sign of bleeding), weakness, tiredness, paleness, dizziness, headaches, and unexplained swelling. Other possible side effects can range from mild to severe, including skin reactions (rash, itching, hives) , bruising, coughing up blood, bleeding from the skin or beneath the skin, and swelling in the limbs. Rivarox V 2.5mg Tablet may increase bilirubin levels and decrease platelet counts. Some patients may experience fainting episodes, a faster heartbeat, and dry mouth. If you experience any side effects, contact your doctor immediately.

Is Rivarox V 2.5mg Tablet a blood thinner?

Yes, Rivarox V 2.5mg Tablet is a blood thinner. It works by inhibiting the clotting of blood within blood vessels and preventing recurrent blood clots within these vessels. It is typically prescribed to treat blood clots in the legs and lungs.

Is Rivarox V 2.5mg Tablet dangerous?

Rivarox V 2.5mg Tablet offers numerous benefits, but it can increase your risk of bleeding more than usual due to its effect on blood clotting. While this may seem minor with occasional injuries, severe bleeding may occur and require immediate medical attention. This risk might be higher when Rivarox V 2.5mg Tablet is combined with other blood-thinning medications. If you experience any bleeding, please contact your doctor immediately.

What foods should I avoid while taking Rivarox V 2.5mg Tablet?

Grapefruit (and grapefruit juice) should be avoided when taking Rivarox V 2.5mg Tablet. This is because grapefruit contains compounds that slow down the body's metabolism of Rivarox V 2.5mg Tablet, leading to increased bleeding risk. If you are on another blood thinner such as Warfarin, it's important to avoid foods that increase vitamin K activity or clotting activity. Some examples include spinach, brussels sprouts, mustard greens, broccoli, asparagus and green tea.
