How it works
During radiotherapy, chemotherapy, abdominal infection, or any major surgeries, the dead cells in the body start releasing a chemical called serotonin directly into the blood. Later, this stimulates special centers in the body that are responsible for inducing vomiting in your child. Frequently asked questions
What is Ridvom-Kid Syrup used for?
Ridvom-Kid Syrup is generally given before major surgery or before chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions. In cases where your child is about to undergo these procedures, their doctor may advise you to administer Ridvom-Kid Syrup to prevent vomiting post-procedure. Additionally, Ridvom-Kid Syrup can be helpful in treating vomiting caused by stomach diseases. In such instances, your child's doctor may prescribe it for a few days. Follow the dosage prescribed for optimal results.
What if my child takes too much Ridvom-Kid Syrup?
While accidental overdosage of Ridvom-Kid Syrup is unlikely to cause harm, it's crucial to inform your child's doctor immediately. Excessive intake can sometimes lead to serious side effects such as excessive drowsiness, agitation, rapid heartbeat, hypertension, flushing, dilated pupils, sweating, involuntary muscle jerks, uncontrolled eye movements, overactive reflexes, and seizures. These symptoms are collectively referred to as serotonin syndrome. If any of these occur, seek medical attention without delay.
How should Ridvom-Kid Syrup be stored?
Ridvom-Kid Syrup should be stored at room temperature in a dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Ensure that all medications are out of the reach and sight of children to prevent accidental ingestion.
What all medicines should my child avoid while taking Ridvom-Kid Syrup?
Typically, it is advised not to administer Ridvom-Kid Syrup alongside antidepressant medications, apomorphine, anti-migraine medicines, painkillers, heart medications, and antibiotics like linezolid. However, always consult your child's doctor before making any decisions regarding medication combinations. Provide your child's complete medical history to the doctor for guidance.
In what conditions do I need to call my child’s doctor right away?
Call your child’s doctor immediately if your child experiences symptoms of serotonin syndrome, including irregular heartbeat, green-colored vomiting, difficulty passing gas, pale skin and eyes, dark urine, restlessness, and insomnia.
My child is having a migraine and is on medication. Can I give Ridvom-Kid Syrup along with it?
Avoid combining Ridvom-Kid Syrup with such medications as their use together can result in serotonin syndrome. Consult your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
