Meniere's disease is a disorder of the inner ear, affecting balance and hearing. Symptoms include vertigo (spinning), fluctuating hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing in ears), and pressure or fullness in the ear. Dizziness can accompany these symptoms, causing nausea and vomiting. Treatment for Meniere's disease is individualized based on the patient's condition and response to treatment. Open communication with a doctor helps determine the most appropriate treatment strategy.

Triggers for Meniere's disease can include: stress, overwork, fatigue, emotional distress, and changes in blood pressure. Certain foods like dairy products, caffeine, alcohol, and high-sodium foods may trigger symptoms. A low-salt diet (2 grams/day) can help manage vertigo associated with the condition.

Mental stress can trigger vertigo in some individuals by worsening existing symptoms. However, it does not cause vertigo itself.
Vertigo can be caused by rapid changes in blood pressure or dehydration. Sudden shifts from lying to standing can also lead to feeling lightheaded. Motion sickness, certain medications, and problems with the inner ear (Meniere's disease or acoustic neuroma) are other potential culprits. It is important to note that vertigo might indicate underlying conditions like multiple sclerosis or head injuries.
