Anti-Rh D immunoglobulin belongs to class of drugs called immunoglobulin. It removes or nullifies any fetal rhesus-D positive red blood cells that enter the rhesus-D negative maternal blood stream during childbirth, abortion, or any accident or intervention during pregnancy which might lead to bleeding across the placenta.
If you're RhD negative, your blood will be tested for the antibodies (known as anti-D antibodies) that destroy RhD positive red blood cells. If these antibodies are detected in your blood during pregnancy, there's a risk of Rhesus disease affecting your unborn baby.
Rhogam 50mcg Injection is required to prevent Rh incompatibility, also known as Rhesus disease. This injection can help avoid sensitization in women who are RhD negative and have been exposed to RhD positive blood. Sensitization refers to the immune system's response to RhD positive blood, which may lead to complications during future pregnancies.
Rhogam 50mcg Injection should be administered only under the supervision of a trained healthcare professional or a doctor and not self-administered. It's given via intramuscular injection, typically in the upper arm. Always follow your doctor's instructions carefully to ensure optimal benefits from Rhogam 50mcg Injection.
Rhogam 50mcg Injection will be administered as an injection at 28 weeks of pregnancy and within 72 hours after birth if your baby is Rh D positive. Consult with your healthcare provider for guidance before receiving the injection.
