Introduction

Remfolet is a medication used to treat suboptimal folate levels in patients with depression. It is an adjunctive treatment used in combination with other medications to manage depressive episodes. Remfolet is not an antidepressant itself, but it has been shown to enhance the effects of antidepressants. It is important to note that treating depressive episodes with antidepressants alone may increase the risk of triggering a manic episode in patients with a history of bipolar disorder.

The usual adult dose is 7.5 to 15 mg daily, taken with or without food. Use under medical supervision.
