Introduction
Relikast-LC Kid Syrup is commonly prescribed in children to treat symptoms of allergy such as runny nose, sneezing, itching, swelling, congestion, and watery eyes. It may also help in the treatment of asthma and skin allergies.
Directions for Use
Relikast-LC Kid Syrup should be used as directed by your child's doctor. Always read the label and follow the instructions carefully.
How it works
Relikast-LC Kid Syrup contains Levocetirizine and Montelukast. Together these two relieve sneezing and runny nose caused due to allergies. Levocetirizine is an antiallergic that blocks a chemical messenger (histamine) responsible for runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Montelukast is a leukotriene antagonist that works by blocking another chemical messenger (leukotriene). This reduces inflammation (swelling) in the airways and nose and improves symptoms.
Quick Tips
Never combine Relikast-LC Kid Syrup with other cold and flu medicines as that may have side effects. Relikast-LC Kid Syrup helps prevent asthma attacks. Never use it to stop an attack that has already started as it will not help. If you are giving Relikast-LC Kid Syrup to your child for asthma or allergy, you need not give another dose to prevent exercise-induced breathing problems. In case of any confusion, consult your child's doctor as soon as possible. Make sure that you always have enough medicine. Practice self-care tips: Abstain your child from coming in contact with allergens, encourage your child to wear a face mask and avoid dusty places, give plenty of fluids as it helps in thinning and loosening the mucus in the lungs.

Frequently asked questions
Can I combine cough and allergy medications for my child, as they are experiencing a persistent cough alongside allergic symptoms?
No. Do not mix cough and allergy medicines because they usually both contain similar ingredients. This can lead to double dosing of the active ingredients, potentially causing serious side effects.
Can I reduce my child's Relikast-LC Kid Syrup dosage on my own if their condition improves?
No. Adhere to the prescribed dosage by your child's doctor. Do not increase or decrease the dose on your own as it can affect their health. While increasing the dose may cause unwanted effects like sedation and depression, decreasing the dose or stopping it suddenly can lead to a rebound reversal of all symptoms.
How should Relikast-LC Kid Syrup be stored?
Relikast-LC Kid Syrup should be stored at room temperature in a dry place, away from direct heat and light. Keep all medications out of the reach and sight of children to prevent accidental intake.
Does Relikast-LC Kid Syrup cause drowsiness in my child?
Relikast-LC Kid Syrup can cause mild drowsiness, which may make your child sleepy. However, never give this medicine to your child to induce sleep. Forced sleep could mask any underlying sleep disorders like insomnia.
Can I start Relikast-LC Kid Syrup course while my child is preparing for a sports event in the next two days?
No, do not start Relikast-LC Kid Syrup without speaking to your child's doctor. Moreover, Relikast-LC Kid Syrup can hamper your child’s performance as it may cause mild sedation, dizziness, and sleepiness. It is best to discuss the matter with the doctor first.
Can I stop taking Relikast-LC Kid Syrup on my own?
No. All symptoms may reappear if you suddenly discontinue the medication after long-term use. It is advised to gradually stop this medication under your child’s doctor’s guidance.
My child experiences mood disorders, will Relikast-LC Kid Syrup be safe for them?
Some studies suggest that Relikast-LC Kid Syrup can cause mood disorders, hallucinations, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, shakiness, and difficulty controlling body movements. Therefore, consult your child’s doctor before giving any medication to your child.
Can I use Relikast-LC Kid Syrup for treating an acute asthma attack in my child?
Relikast-LC Kid Syrup is only intended to prevent asthma attacks. It should not be used to stop an attack that has already started. Use your child’s reliever medication to assist with an attack that has already started.
