Refcold Oral Suspension is a medication used to treat symptoms of common cold, hay fever, and other respiratory tract conditions in children.
Oral Suspension
Refcold Oral Suspension is a combination of three medicines: Cetirizine, Paracetamol, and Phenylephrine. It is commonly prescribed in children to relieve symptoms such as runny nose, cough, sneezing, watery eyes, sore throat, body ache, and fever. These symptoms are usually associated with common cold, hay fever (allergic rhinitis), and other respiratory tract conditions.
Consult your child's doctor before giving Refcold Oral Suspension. Do not give it to children less than 2 years of age.
Refcold Oral Suspension is a combination of three medicines: Cetirizine, Paracetamol, and Phenylephrine. Cetirizine is an antiallergic that blocks histamine (a chemical messenger) to relieve allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Paracetamol is an analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer). It blocks the release of certain chemical messengers in the brain that are responsible for pain and fever. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that narrows the small blood vessels providing relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose.
Do not give Refcold Oral Suspension if your child is less than 2 years of age. Consult your child's doctor before giving such medicines. Refcold Oral Suspension may make your child feel sleepy. Ensure your child takes extra care when taking part in physical activities. Never combine Refcold Oral Suspension with other cold and flu medicines as that may lead to side effects. Stop Refcold Oral Suspension and immediately report to the doctor if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties. Practice self-care tips: clean and disinfect surfaces after sneezing and coughing, give your child plenty of fluids, restrain your child from having caffeinated products and foods that are spicy and fried, make your child gargle with warm saltwater, and ensure your child takes enough rest.
A cold is a common respiratory illness that usually resolves on its own within a week. If you're concerned about your child's comfort, consult with your pediatrician for guidance on the best approach for a faster recovery. If your child's symptoms persist or worsen, contact your doctor. A persistent cough may indicate a more serious condition, such as bronchitis or asthma, and requires medical attention.
If your child has ingested an excessive amount of Refcold Oral Suspension, seek immediate medical attention. Excessive intake can lead to serious side effects, including seizures, psychiatric symptoms, urinary retention, and other complications. Call your child's doctor or emergency services right away.
Refcold Oral Suspension may interact with other medications or substances. Inform your child's doctor about any other medications your child is taking before starting Refcold Oral Suspension. Additionally, consult with your child's doctor before giving any medication to your child.
Avoid giving Refcold Oral Suspension to children with a seizure disorder. Refcold Oral Suspension is also contraindicated in children with cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, gastrointestinal obstruction, increased intraocular pressure, urinary obstruction, or thyroid dysfunction. Always inform your child's doctor about their medical history and consult with them before giving Refcold Oral Suspension for any medical condition.
Refcold Oral Suspension may cause mild drowsiness, but it's essential to avoid using it to induce sleep. Forced sleep can mask underlying sleep disorders, such as insomnia. Consult with your child's doctor before giving Refcold Oral Suspension to your child.
Store Refcold Oral Suspension at room temperature, in a dry place, away from direct heat and light. Keep all medications out of the reach and sight of children to avoid accidental intake.
