Red-Tar Solution is a combination of two keratolytic medicines: Coal Tar and Salicylic Acid which treat psoriasis. They work by breaking down keratin clumps, removing dead skin cells and softening the skin.

Use a mild moisturizer regularly to overcome skin dryness during the course of treatment. Wash your skin with a mild cleanser and pat it dry before applying Red-Tar Solution. Apply it as a thin layer onto a clean, dry, unbroken infected area of skin. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get the cream in these areas. Don't cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor. After you have applied Red-Tar Solution, remember to wash your hands (unless your hands are the treated area).
