Raypol DX Eye Ointment is a combination of two antibiotics (Chloramphenicol and Polymyxin B) and a steroid (Dexamethasone). The antibiotics work by killing the bacteria or stopping their growth. Together they treat your eye infection effectively. The steroid blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the eye red, swollen, and itchy.
You have been prescribed Raypol DX Eye Ointment for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Do not use Raypol DX Eye Ointment for more than the prescribed duration as it may cause glaucoma or secondary infection. Do not touch the tip to any surface or to your eye to avoid contamination. Do not wear contact lenses until your infection clears up. Throw away any medicine left at the end of the 5 day course.
Do not discontinue use of Raypol DX Eye Ointment before your doctor advises. Stopping the medication prematurely may hinder complete healing and result in the recurrence of symptoms. Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed by your doctor to ensure optimal treatment.
Store Raypol DX Eye Ointment in its original container, keeping it tightly closed. Refer to the packaging or label for specific storage recommendations and dispose of unused medication appropriately. Avoid accidental consumption by children, pets, and other individuals.
Before applying Raypol DX Eye Ointment, wash your hands thoroughly to minimize contamination risk. Do not touch the tip of the dropper. If wearing contact lenses, remove them before application. Tilt your head back, look upward, and pull down your lower eyelid to create a pouch. Apply Raypol DX Eye Ointment (drop or ointment) into this pouch.
If you accidentally apply more than needed, rinse your eye with water for a short period. Seek immediate medical attention in case of persistent eye irritation even after rinsing.
