Frequently asked questions
What is Raycob 1500mcg Injection?
Raycob 1500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12, an essential nutrient required by the body for red blood cell formation and maintaining a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in releasing energy from food and utilizing vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
Vitamin B12 is primarily found in animal-based foods such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. Vegetarians and vegans may experience a deficiency as these nutrients are not naturally present in plant-based food sources like fruits, vegetables, and grains.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (an abnormal development of red blood cells). It can also lead to nerve problems such as numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Additionally, other symptoms include difficulty with balance, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and mouth or tongue soreness.
Is Raycob 1500mcg Injection safe?
Raycob 1500mcg Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, some individuals might experience rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or rash. In case of a rash, immediately discontinue the medication.
How should Raycob 1500mcg Injection be given?
Raycob 1500mcg Injection can be administered intravenously (directly into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The usual dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Raycob 1500mcg Injection), and it's typically administered three times weekly. After two months, the dosage should be adjusted to 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Raycob 1500mcg Injection) every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken while administering Raycob 1500mcg Injection?
It is advisable to avoid injecting in the same site repeatedly. If there is intense pain or backflow during injection, remove the needle and re-insert at a different location.
