Frequently asked questions
What is Raflomec 1500 Injection?
Raflomec 1500 Injection is a form of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that helps the body produce red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in releasing energy from food and using vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
You may have difficulty getting enough vitamin B12 from your diet if you are vegetarian or vegan. While some foods naturally contain vitamin B12, like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products, it is not found in fruits, vegetables, or grains as often. Therefore, deficiency of vitamin B12 is more commonly seen in vegetarians and vegans.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (an abnormal increase in red blood cell size). Other possible symptoms include nerve problems like numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Additionally, you may experience difficulty with balance, depression, confusion, dementia, memory impairment, and a sore mouth or tongue.
Is Raflomec 1500 Injection safe?
Raflomec 1500 Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, some individuals may experience rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or rash. In case of a rash, discontinue use immediately.
How should Raflomec 1500 Injection be given?
Raflomec 1500 Injection can be administered intravenously (into the vein) or intramuscularly (into muscle). The typical dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Raflomec 1500 Injection), and it is taken three times a week. After two months, 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Raflomec 1500 Injection) may be administered every one to three months as part of long-term maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken when administering Raflomec 1500 Injection?
Avoid injecting the medication at the same site each time. If you experience intense pain during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-inject it at a different location.
