Qualiderm Cream is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Qualiderm Cream is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.
Qualiderm Cream is a combination of three medicines: Betamethasone, Gentamicin, and Tolnaftate. Betamethasone is a steroid medicine that blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen, and itchy after an allergy or infection. Gentamicin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Tolnaftate is an antifungal that stops the growth of fungi by preventing them from forming their own protective covering.
It may take several weeks to show its action. Keep using it as suggested by your doctor. Wash your skin with a mild cleanser and pat it dry before applying Qualiderm Cream. Apply it as a thin layer onto a clean, dry, unbroken infected area of skin. Use moisturizer regularly to overcome the skin dryness during the course of treatment.
