Frequently asked questions
What is Qmec 1500mcg Injection?
Qmec 1500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 plays a vital role in the body, aiding in red blood cell formation and maintaining a healthy nervous system. It also contributes to energy release from food and supports the utilization of vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why may I not be getting enough vitamin B12 through diet?
Vitamin B12 is mainly found in animal-based products like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy. Vegetarians or vegans may experience difficulties obtaining adequate amounts of vitamin B12 from their diets as it's not naturally present in plant-based foods like fruits, vegetables, and grains. This can lead to a deficiency.
What happens if I have a Vitamin B12 deficiency?
A lack of vitamin B12 may cause fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia. This condition results in abnormally large red blood cells. Additionally, it can lead to nerve problems like numbness and tingling in the hands and feet, along with other symptoms such as imbalance, depression, confusion, memory problems, mouth or tongue soreness.
Is Qmec 1500mcg Injection safe?
Qmec 1500mcg Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, some individuals might experience rare side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or rash. It's important to discontinue using this medicine immediately if you develop a rash.
How should Qmec 1500mcg Injection be administered?
Qmec 1500mcg Injection can be administered intravenously (directly into the vein) or intramuscularly (into the muscle). The usual dosage is one ampoule (0.5 mg of Qmec 1500mcg Injection), and it's typically given three times a week. Following two months, one ampoule (0.5 mg of Qmec 1500mcg Injection) is administered every one to three months for maintenance therapy.
What precautions should be taken while administering Qmec 1500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting the medication at the same site repeatedly. If experiencing severe pain during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-inject at a different location.
