The common side effects of this medicine include dry skin and irritation at the application site. Protar Scalp Solution is a combination of two keratolytic medicines: Coal Tar and Salicylic Acid which treat psoriasis. They work by breaking down keratin clumps, removing dead skin cells and softening the skin.

Apply it as a thin layer onto a clean, dry, unbroken infected area of skin. Wash your skin with a mild cleanser and pat it dry before applying Protar Scalp Solution. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get the cream in these areas. Don't cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects. After you have applied Protar Scalp Solution, remember to wash your hands (unless your hands are the treated area).
