Primecobal 500mcg Injection is a solution of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient required by the body to make red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It's also important for releasing energy from food and using vitamin B11 (folate).
You may not get enough vitamin B12 from your diet if you don't consume animal products such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy. Vegetarians or vegans who do not include animal products in their diet may need to be extra careful to ensure adequate intake of vitamin B12.
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to symptoms like fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (anemia caused by large and abnormal red blood cells). It may also result in nerve problems like numbness or tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms include difficulty balancing, depression, confusion, memory problems, sore mouth or tongue, and dementia.
Primecobal 500mcg Injection is generally well tolerated and considered safe. However, some people may experience rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, or an allergic reaction (rash). If you develop a rash, discontinue the use of this medicine immediately.
Primecobal 500mcg Injection can be injected directly into a vein (intravenously) or muscle (intramuscularly). The usual dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Primecobal 500mcg Injection), and it's typically given three times per week. After two months, a single dose of 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Primecobal 500mcg Injection) is administered every one to three months as part of ongoing maintenance therapy.
Avoid using the same injection site repeatedly. If you experience intense pain when injecting or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert at a different site.
