Short Description

Prazoset-XL 5 Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure and lower your risk of having a heart attack or stroke. It is also used in the treatment of heart failure and mild enlargement of the prostate gland.

Introduction

Prazoset-XL 5 Tablet may be prescribed alone or in combination with other medicines. It can be taken with or without food. The dose will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. Take this medicine regularly to get the most benefit. High blood pressure does not usually have symptoms so keep taking it even if you feel well. If you stop your blood pressure may rise and put you at risk of heart attack or stroke. You may need to take it for the rest of your life.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Prazoset-XL 5 Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Prazoset-XL 5 Tablet is an alpha blocker. It lowers blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily through the body. In benign prostate hyperplasia it relaxes the muscles in the prostate gland and make it easier to pass urine and reduce the need to urinate urgently or frequently.

You have been prescribed Prazoset-XL 5 Tablet for the treatment of high blood pressure. It may cause sudden drop in your blood pressure especially when you first start taking this medicine. To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. Do not consume alcohol while taking Prazoset-XL 5 Tablet as it may enhance the blood pressure lowering effect of this medicine causing increased dizziness. Be cautious while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as it can cause dizziness and sleepiness. Inform your doctor that you are taking Prazoset-XL 5 Tablet if you are scheduled for a cataract surgery.
