Take it at the same time every day. Be careful while shaving, using sharp objects, or cutting fingernails or toenails. Do not discontinue using the medicine without consulting your doctor as this may increase your chances of having another heart attack or stroke. You may vomit blood (which may be bright red blood or black/dark brown like coffee grounds) or you may have bloody or black tarry stools. Please consult your doctor if you are unsure.
Prasulet 10mg Tablet is often prescribed in combination with aspirin to prevent serious or life-threatening problems related to the heart and blood vessels (such as heart attack, stroke, or clot formation within a stent). This combination is given to patients who have recently experienced a heart attack after undergoing angioplasty (stent placement in blocked blood vessels of the heart) for angina. Please consult your doctor before taking any medication if you are on Prasulet 10mg Tablet and follow the doctor's instructions carefully for optimal benefits.
Your doctor will decide whether you need to stop taking Prasulet 10mg Tablet before any surgery or treatment. Usually, if a surgery or treatment is planned beforehand, the doctor may stop Prasulet 10mg Tablet a few days (usually seven days) before the procedure due to the increased risk of bleeding during it. It is essential not to discontinue the medication without consulting your doctor.
Prasulet 10mg Tablet can cause serious or life-threatening bleeding. You may bruise easily and it may take longer than usual for bleeding to stop, even if you have a minor injury like a cut while shaving. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice excessive or prolonged bleeding. Inform your doctor immediately if you experience black tarry stools or blood in the urine. Be vigilant for signs of stroke like sudden numbness or weakness (one side or both sides of the body), difficulty walking, mental confusion, slurred speech, dizziness and unexplained headaches. Contact your doctor immediately if you develop any such symptoms as stroke is an uncommon side effect of Prasulet 10mg Tablet and requires urgent medical attention.
If you miss a dose of Prasulet 10mg Tablet, take it as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, take it in the regular schedule instead of taking the missed dose. Don't double the dose to make up for the missed one as this may increase the chances of developing side effects.
The duration of taking Prasulet 10mg Tablet will be determined by your doctor based on factors like the illness you are being treated for, the type of stent inserted, and any bleeding episodes during treatment. Usually, it is prescribed for a specific period, and then follow your doctor's advice precisely to maximize the benefits of Prasulet 10mg Tablet. Consult your doctor before stopping medication as sudden discontinuation may increase the risk of clot formation in the stent, heart attack, and even death.
Be careful with activities that can increase your bleeding risk. Take extra care when shaving or brushing your teeth to prevent bleeding. Avoid painkillers unless absolutely necessary, and consult your doctor for the use of pain medications like ibuprofen for joint pain, headaches, or backaches, as they may increase the chances of developing a stomach ulcer.
