Planep 50 Tablet is a potassium-sparing diuretic. It works by stopping aldosterone (a natural substance) from increasing your blood pressure. It also reduces the fluid around your heart. This helps improve your heart function after a heart attack and can help prevent heart attacks, strokes or heart failure getting worse.
Planep 50 Tablet helps remove fluid from your body when used with other drugs. It can make you feel dizzy for the first few days. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how Planep 50 Tablet affects you. It may increase the level of potassium in your blood. Avoid taking potassium supplements and potassium-rich foods such as banana and broccoli. Your doctor will regularly check your kidney function and the amount of potassium in your blood while you are on this medicine. Notify your doctor if you experience dizziness, diarrhea, vomiting, fast or irregular heartbeat, swelling in feet, or difficulty breathing. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Planep 50 Tablet is a potassium-sparing diuretic. It is prescribed to control increased blood pressure and treat heart failure in patients who have had a heart attack. It is not a beta blocker, but a mineralocorticoid receptor blocker.
Planep 50 Tablet controls high blood pressure, but it does not cure it. You may not see any improvement because high blood pressure does not have any noticeable symptoms. However, if your blood pressure is checked within two weeks of starting Planep 50 Tablet, you may notice a change. The medicine can take four weeks or longer to show its maximum benefits.
No, Planep 50 Tablet does not cause erectile dysfunction. It has no effect on fertility in both males and females.
No, you should not stop Planep 50 Tablet if your doctor has advised you to continue treatment. It does not cure high blood pressure but keeps it under control. Therefore, keep taking the medicine even if your blood pressure is controlled. Stopping it may make your condition worse and can lead to unwanted side effects.
Potassium-sparing diuretics are those medicines which increase urination without causing potassium loss. Planep 50 Tablet allows sodium loss from the body in exchange for potassium, which is retained. This may result in an increase in potassium levels. Therefore, your doctor may monitor your potassium levels continuously. You may need to have it measured before starting Planep 50 Tablet, within the first week and one month after treatment starts or after a dose change. Elevated potassium levels are not good for you.
Although it's not very common, Planep 50 Tablet may increase your blood sugar levels. Therefore, it is important that you monitor your blood sugar regularly if you are diabetic. Using Planep 50 Tablet should be avoided in patients with type 2 diabetes and kidney problems where the patient loses protein (albumin) in small quantities through urine.
It may be possible that Losartan was not able to control your blood pressure adequately, so your doctor may have recommended an alternative medicine like Planep 50 Tablet to better manage blood pressure. Combining Eplerenone with Losartan can enhance the chances of elevated potassium levels, which could harm you. To prevent this rise in potassium levels, the combination of Planep 50 Tablet and hydrochlorothiazide was prescribed.
Aspirin can interfere with the effectiveness of Planep 50 Tablet, potentially leading to inadequate blood pressure control. Additionally, aspirin and Planep 50 Tablet may increase the risk of elevated potassium levels in patients with kidney problems. Therefore, monitor your blood pressure and potassium levels regularly if both are being used.
