How it works
Pelmox-CV DS Dry Syrup Vanilla is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Pelmox-CV DS Dry Syrup Vanilla?
It is important to inform your child's doctor about all medications your child is taking before starting Pelmox-CV DS Dry Syrup Vanilla. Additionally, consult your doctor about giving any medication to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Pelmox-CV DS Dry Syrup Vanilla?
Generally, antibiotics do not interfere with vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children. However, it is recommended that vaccination be delayed until the illness has cleared up, and consult a healthcare professional about administering any medication after your child recovers.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Pelmox-CV DS Dry Syrup Vanilla on a long-term basis?
The doctor may perform periodic kidney and liver function tests during extended treatment with Pelmox-CV DS Dry Syrup Vanilla to monitor your child's condition.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Pelmox-CV DS Dry Syrup Vanilla to my child?
Giving a dose higher than the recommended dosage may increase the risk of side effects. If your child experiences increased symptoms, consult their doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Pelmox-CV DS Dry Syrup Vanilla to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
Do not stop administering this medication to your child unless the complete course of treatment is finished. Symptoms may improve before a full cure, so continue taking the medicine until completion.
Can the use of Pelmox-CV DS Dry Syrup Vanilla cause diarrhea?
Yes, Pelmox-CV DS Dry Syrup Vanilla can cause diarrhea as it is an antibiotic. It can also affect beneficial bacteria in the stomach and induce diarrhea. Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids if they experience diarrhea, and consult a doctor if the diarrhea persists or you notice signs of dehydration (decreased urination, dark and strong-smelling urine).
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most of the time, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. Using antibiotics for a viral infection can increase your child's risk of side effects. Consult a healthcare professional before administering any antibiotic.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus from the nose during a common cold is not necessarily indicative of a bacterial infection. The mucus will often thicken and change color, but these symptoms typically last for 7 to 10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Contact your child's doctor immediately if they experience serious allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, skin rashes), gastrointestinal distress (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). Although rare, these side effects can be severe and require prompt medical attention.
