Introduction
Ozimentin-CV 457 Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Ozimentin-CV 457 Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Ozimentin-CV 457 Dry Syrup?
Ozimentin-CV 457 Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. Please inform your child's doctor about any other medications they are taking before starting treatment. Consulting with a healthcare professional before administering any medication to your child is crucial for safe and effective use.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Ozimentin-CV 457 Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics typically do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children already vaccinated. However, it's important to avoid giving your child antibiotics until the illness is fully resolved before receiving a vaccine. Once they feel better, consult their doctor to determine if vaccination can proceed safely.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Ozimentin-CV 457 Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
Periodic kidney and liver function tests may be recommended during prolonged treatment with Ozimentin-CV 457 Dry Syrup. This monitoring ensures your child's overall health is appropriately assessed.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Ozimentin-CV 457 Dry Syrup to my child?
Giving a higher than recommended dose of this medicine may increase the risk of side effects. If your child experiences worsened symptoms, consult your doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Ozimentin-CV 457 Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No, do not discontinue treatment without first consulting a healthcare professional. The medicine may still be effective for your child's infection even if they show improvement in symptoms. It is essential to complete the full course of the medication to ensure complete healing.
Can Ozimentin-CV 457 Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Ozimentin-CV 457 Dry Syrup may cause diarrhea as it is an antibiotic that kills harmful bacteria. It may also disrupt the beneficial bacteria in your child's stomach and lead to diarrhea. Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids if they experience diarrhea, but always consult a doctor if it persists or shows signs of dehydration (decreased urination with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine). Do not administer any other medication without professional guidance.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
While most cases of viral colds do not lead to secondary bacterial infections, giving antibiotics during a viral infection can increase the risk of side effects. It's best to discuss with your child’s doctor before administering any medication.
The mucus coming out of my child's nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus from the nose does not necessarily indicate a bacterial infection. It is often normal during a common cold, with the mucus thickening and changing color. Most symptoms resolve within 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences severe allergic reactions (breathing difficulties, skin rashes), gastrointestinal issues (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, pallor, vomiting). These are potentially serious side effects and need urgent medical care.
