Oxymay Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Never give Oxymay Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. You must also never share your child’s medicine with anyone else even if they show similar symptoms.
No common side effects listed.
Oxymay Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Oxymay Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Oxymay Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Never save medicine for future illnesses. It cannot be said whether the same medicine will work on future infections. Check ‘expiry’ before giving Oxymay Syrup to your child. Immediately discard all the expired medicines. Stop Oxymay Syrup immediately if your child develops an itchy rash facial swelling or breathing difficulty. Report to the doctor without any delay.
It's essential to inform your child's doctor about any other medications they're taking before starting Oxymay Syrup. Additionally, consult with their doctor before giving any medicine to ensure safe and effective treatment.
Generally, antibiotics like Oxymay Syrup do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions. However, children taking antibiotics should wait until they recover from the illness before getting vaccinated.
During prolonged therapy, your child's doctor may monitor kidney and liver function tests periodically to ensure their condition remains stable.
Giving a higher dose of this medicine increases the risk of side effects. If your child's symptoms worsen, consult with their doctor for re-evaluation and proper guidance.
Do not discontinue treatment unless the full course of medication is completed, even if symptoms improve. This ensures the infection is fully cured, and the medicine's benefits are maintained.
Yes, Oxymay Syrup may lead to diarrhea due to its antibiotic properties affecting helpful bacteria in your child's stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water or other fluids if they experience diarrhea. Consult a doctor if symptoms persist and signs of dehydration appear.
Mostly, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. Using antibiotics unnecessarily can increase the risk of side effects. Consult with your child's doctor to determine if antibiotics are required.
Yellow or green mucus does not necessarily indicate the need for antibiotics, as this can occur during a common cold. Symptoms often last 7-10 days and may thicken up before resolving.
Seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences serious allergic reactions (breathing problems, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). These side effects are rare but require prompt expert care.
