You can give Oxymay Kid 200mg/28.5mg Tablet to your child with or without food. It is better to give it with food as that helps increase absorption and decrease the risk of stomach upset. So, stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed. If your child vomits the medicine within 30 minutes of intake, let the child calm down and repeat the dose. How it works
Oxymay Kid 200mg/28.5mg Tablet is an antibiotic. It has two active agents, amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas, clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Oxymay Kid 200mg/28.5mg Tablet?
Oxymay Kid 200mg/28.5mg Tablet may interact with other medications or substances. It's important to tell your doctor about all medications your child is taking before starting Oxymay Kid 200mg/28.5mg Tablet. Consult your child's doctor for guidance on medication combinations.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Oxymay Kid 200mg/28.5mg Tablet?
Antibiotics generally don't interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children after vaccination. However, it is recommended to delay vaccination until your child has recovered from any illness. Once your child feels better, you can administer the vaccine as directed by their doctor.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Oxymay Kid 200mg/28.5mg Tablet on a long-term basis?
Periodically, your child's doctor may order kidney and liver function tests to monitor their condition over the course of prolonged treatment.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Oxymay Kid 200mg/28.5mg Tablet to my child?
Giving a higher dose of this medication than prescribed can increase the risk of side effects. If your child experiences increased symptoms, consult their doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Oxymay Kid 200mg/28.5mg Tablet to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
Do not abruptly discontinue this medication unless the full course of treatment is completed, even if you notice improvement in symptoms. Your child may still be experiencing positive effects from the medicine.
Can the use of Oxymay Kid 200mg/28.5mg Tablet cause diarrhea?
Yes, Oxymay Kid 200mg/28.5mg Tablet can cause diarrhea due to its antibiotic action. It may also affect beneficial bacteria in your child's stomach, leading to diarrhea. Encourage them to drink plenty of water or other fluids if they experience diarrhea. Consult your doctor for severe cases with signs of dehydration such as decreased urination, dark-colored and strong-smelling urine.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most viral common colds do not develop into secondary bacterial infections. Antibiotics should only be used after consultation with your child's doctor if bacterial infection is confirmed. Using antibiotics inappropriately can increase the risk of side effects.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not necessarily indicate a need for antibiotics. During a common cold, mucus typically thickens and changes color from clear to yellow or green. This phase usually lasts 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
You should immediately contact your child's doctor if they experience serious allergic reactions (breathing problems, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). While rare, these side effects require prompt expert medical attention.
