Suspension
Oxn M Suspension is an antibiotic medicine that is effective against a wide range of bacterial and parasitic infections. In children, it is used to treat infections of the teeth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and genital tract.
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
Oxn M Suspension is an antibiotic having ofloxacin and metronidazole as its active ingredients. Both these medicines damage the DNA of the infection-causing bacteria, thus killing it by stopping its growth. This prevents the infection from spreading without making the bacteria resistant to further treatment.
If your child develops diarrhea as a side effect, encourage them to drink plenty of water. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help if Oxn M Suspension causes an altered taste. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid to your child within 2 hours of taking Oxn M Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Discontinue Oxn M Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing. Never save the medicine for future illnesses since its effectiveness in future infections cannot be guaranteed.
While an extra dose of Oxn M Suspension will not have any side effects, you must always be vigilant. If you think you have given too much Oxn M Suspension to your child, immediately consult a doctor. Overdose increases the risk of unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and rapid and irregular heartbeat. Seek immediate medical attention if you observe any of these symptoms.
Ineffective treatment with Oxn M Suspension could mean that the medicine is not able to act against the infection-causing bacteria. In such a case, consult your child's doctor who may prescribe another antibiotic with more specific action towards the infecting bacteria.
Oxn M Suspension may interact with other medications or substances. Inform your doctor about any other medications your child is taking before starting Oxn M Suspension. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Antibiotics generally do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, children on antibiotics should not be vaccinated until they recover from the illness. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
Inform the doctor if your child is suffering from heart disease, genetic disorders involving blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (allergy from sunlight), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. There is a possibility that Oxn M Suspension may aggravate these conditions and result in complications.
