Introduction
Oximox XL Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Oximox XL Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Quick Tips

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Oximox XL Dry Syrup?
Oximox XL Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. Before starting Oximox XL Dry Syrup, consult your child's doctor about all other medications they are taking. If unsure, always seek advice from a healthcare professional before administering any medication to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Oximox XL Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics do not typically interfere with the components of vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently received them. However, it is crucial to wait until the child recovers from their illness before receiving any vaccinations. As soon as your child feels better, a vaccination can be administered after consulting a healthcare professional.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Oximox XL Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
If the treatment is prolonged, periodic monitoring of kidney and liver function tests will be recommended by your doctor to assess the condition.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Oximox XL Dry Syrup to my child?
Never exceed the recommended dose for Oximox XL Dry Syrup. Excessive dosing may lead to increased side effects, and your doctor needs to be informed if any changes occur.
Can I stop giving Oximox XL Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
Do not discontinue Oximox XL Dry Syrup without consulting a doctor. If the symptoms improve, it does not always indicate the infection has been completely eradicated. Continue the prescribed treatment until your child's doctor confirms completion of the course.
Can the use of Oximox XL Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Oximox XL Dry Syrup can potentially cause diarrhea as it is an antibiotic. Furthermore, this medication may disrupt the balance of good bacteria in your child's digestive system, leading to diarrhea. It's essential to provide plenty of fluids to your child and consult a doctor if diarrhea persists or if signs of dehydration (such as reduced urination with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine) are present.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most viral cold infections do not lead to secondary bacterial infections. It's important to note that using antibiotics for a viral cold can actually increase the risk of side effects in children. Always consult with your child's doctor before using antibiotics.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus from the nose doesn't automatically indicate a bacterial infection during common colds. As the body fights the infection, the mucus may thicken and change color to yellow or green. In most cases, symptoms will persist for 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Call your child's doctor immediately if you notice signs of severe allergic reactions (breathing difficulties, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea) , or liver damage (weakness, pallor, vomiting). These side effects are rare but necessitate expert intervention.
