It is a nasal decongestant that helps in opening up the nasal passages by reducing excessive nasal secretions and also reducing the swelling in the blood vessels in the inner surface of the nose. This provides temporary relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose.

An overdose of Otrimol P 0.05% Nasal Drops can cause serious side effects, including dizziness, perspiration, low body temperature, headaches, slowed heart rate (bradycardia), high blood pressure, respiratory depression, coma, and seizures. It may also trigger a spike in blood pressure followed by a drop. Children are more susceptible to toxicity than adults, so contact your child's doctor immediately if you suspect an overdose.
Before using Otrimol P 0.05% Nasal Drops, ask your child to clear their nose by blowing gently. Have them lie down with their head tilted back slightly or raise their head on a side if they are lying on the bed. Open the cap of the medicine container and apply the drops into each nostril without touching the nozzle. Keep the head tilted back for a short time to allow the medication to spread throughout the nose. Replace the cap immediately after use. If all the drops go into the nose, administer the remaining drops in another attempt. If any part of the drop gets inside the nose, do not apply it again. Repeat for the other nostril. Clean and dry the nozzle before replacing the cap right away. It is crucial to use this medicine bottle only by one person.

To facilitate drainage, have your child lie on their back with a pillow for support. Avoid sleeping them on their side as this can increase congestion in one or both nostrils.
