Optimoist Ophthalmic Gel is a lubricant. It works similar to natural tears and provides temporary relief from burning and discomfort due to dryness of the eye.
Your doctor has prescribed Optimoist Ophthalmic Gel to treat dry eye disease. It stabilizes the natural tear film and maintains necessary lubrication so your eyes don’t get dry and irritated. May require long-term use. Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute immediately after instilling the drop. Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution of this medicine.
Optimoist Ophthalmic Gel is a type of medication known as an artificial tear or eye lubricant. It comes in the form of eye drops and is used to relieve irritation, burning, and discomfort associated with dry eyes. Causes of dry eyes can include insufficient tear production, infrequent blinking, exposure to smoke, wind, pollution, prolonged use of digital devices, medical treatment, and dry atmospheric conditions. Optimoist Ophthalmic Gel may also be used to aid in lens insertion or to improve comfort while wearing lenses.
Optimoist Ophthalmic Gel is effective when used as directed by your healthcare provider. Do not stop using it simply because symptoms improve, even if they seem to diminish. If you discontinue use before the full prescribed course is complete, the symptoms may return or worsen.
For dry eyes: instill 1 or 2 drops into the affected eye(s) as needed. For lubricating soft and rigid gas-permeable lenses, apply 1 to 2 drops to each eye with the lenses in place as directed by your healthcare provider or as prescribed. Blink several times after administering the drops.
Use of Optimoist Ophthalmic Gel should be avoided in individuals with known allergies to Optimoist Ophthalmic Gel or its components. If you are unsure of any potential allergies or if this is your first time using Optimoist Ophthalmic Gel, consult with your healthcare provider.
Possible side effects include visual disturbances and eye discharge. Additional reported side effects may include redness of the eye, irritation, burning sensation or discomfort, eyelid swelling, and itchy eyes.
