Introduction
Ondot Oral Solution may be given before or after meals. To control vomiting caused due to chemotherapy, give this medicine to your child 30 minutes before the procedure. Give it 1 to 2 hours before a radiotherapy session and 1 hour before surgery to prevent your child from vomiting post these procedures. Ondot Oral Solution may cause some temporary side effects such as headache, constipation, diarrhea, and fatigue. These side effects usually subside once your child’s body adapts to the medicine. In case these side effects persist or become bothersome, do reach out to the doctor on a priority basis.

How it works
During radiotherapy, chemotherapy, abdominal infection, or any major surgeries, the dead cells in the body start releasing a chemical called serotonin directly into the blood. Later, this stimulates special centers in the body that are responsible for inducing vomiting in your child. Giving Ondot Oral Solution just before the procedure helps block the effect of this chemical on vomiting centers of the brain and prevents vomiting.

Frequently asked questions
What is Ondot Oral Solution used for?
Ondot Oral Solution is typically administered before major surgical procedures or chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions. In such cases, the doctor may prescribe it to prevent vomiting after the procedure. Additionally, it can be helpful in treating vomiting associated with stomach disorders. Your child's doctor will determine the appropriate dosage based on their specific condition.
What if my child takes too much Ondot Oral Solution?
While accidental overdosing is unlikely to cause immediate harm, it's crucial to contact your child’s doctor immediately. Excessive Ondot Oral Solution intake can lead to serious side effects, such as excessive drowsiness, agitation, rapid heartbeat, hypertension, flushing, dilated pupils, sweating, involuntary muscle jerks, uncontrolled eye movements, overactive reflexes, and seizures. These symptoms collectively describe serotonin syndrome, requiring immediate medical attention.
How should Ondot Oral Solution be stored?
Ondot Oral Solution should be kept in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight or heat sources. It's essential to store all medications out of reach and sight of children to prevent accidental ingestion.
What all medicines should my child avoid while taking Ondot Oral Solution?
It is generally advised not to combine Ondot Oral Solution with certain medications, such as antidepressants, apomorphine, migraine medications, painkillers, heart medicines, and antibiotics like linezolid. Always discuss your child's complete medical history with their doctor before administering any medication for the best results.
In what conditions do I need to call my child’s doctor right away?
Call your child’s doctor immediately if they experience symptoms of serotonin syndrome, such as an irregular heartbeat, green-colored vomiting, difficulty passing gas, pale skin and eyes, dark-colored urine, restlessness, and insomnia. These are all significant indicators requiring prompt medical attention.
My child is having a migraine and is on medication. Can I give Ondot Oral Solution along with it?
Avoid combining Ondot Oral Solution with medications for depression or migraine, as this may lead to serotonin syndrome. Always consult your child's doctor before administering any additional medicine.
