Introduction
Ondolin Oral Solution may be given before or after meals. To control vomiting caused due to chemotherapy, give this medicine to your child 30 minutes before the procedure. How it works
During radiotherapy, chemotherapy, abdominal infection, or any major surgeries, the dead cells in the body start releasing a chemical called serotonin directly into the blood. Later, this stimulates special centers in the body that are responsible for inducing vomiting in your child. Giving Ondolin Oral Solution just before the procedure helps block the effect of this chemical on vomiting centers of the brain and prevents vomiting.

Frequently asked questions
What is Ondolin Oral Solution used for?
Ondolin Oral Solution is primarily prescribed before major surgical procedures or chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions. It helps prevent vomiting following these treatments in children. Additionally, it can be utilized to treat vomiting associated with stomach illnesses. For long-term management of such conditions, your child's doctor may prescribe Ondolin Oral Solution for several days.
What if my child takes too much Ondolin Oral Solution?
While accidental overdose is unlikely to cause significant harm, it's crucial to contact your child's doctor immediately. In rare cases, exceeding the prescribed dose can lead to serious side effects like excessive sleepiness, agitation, rapid heartbeat, hypertension, flushing, dilated pupils, sweating, involuntary muscle jerks, uncontrolled eye movements, overactive reflexes, and seizures. This combination is known as serotonin syndrome. If any of these symptoms arise, consult a doctor without delay.
How should Ondolin Oral Solution be stored?
Ondolin Oral Solution should be kept in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. It's important to store the medication securely out of reach of children to prevent accidental ingestion.
What all medicines should my child avoid while taking Ondolin Oral Solution?
Typically, Ondolin Oral Solution shouldn't be used concurrently with antidepressant medications, apomorphine, anti-migraine medications, painkillers, heart medications, and antibiotics like linezolid. However, it's essential to seek guidance from your child's doctor before making any decisions regarding medication combinations. Please discuss your child's complete medical history with their physician for personalized advice.
In what conditions do I need to call my child’s doctor right away?
Immediately contact your child's doctor if they experience any of the following symptoms, which could indicate serotonin syndrome: irregular heartbeat, green-colored vomiting, difficulty passing gas (flatulence), pale skin and eyes, dark-colored urine, restlessness, and insomnia.
My child is having a migraine and is on medication. Can I give Ondolin Oral Solution along with it?
Combining Ondolin Oral Solution with medications designed to treat depression or migraines can result in serotonin syndrome, therefore, avoid administering both together. Always consult your child's doctor before giving any medication to your child.
