Oral Solution
Introduction
Ondasat Oral Solution may be given before or after meals. To control vomiting caused due to chemotherapy, give this medicine to your child 30 minutes before the procedure. Give it 1 to 2 hours before a radiotherapy session and 1 hour before surgery to prevent your child from vomiting post these procedures. If your child expels out the medicine within 30 minutes of the intake, help your child calm down and repeat the dose. Do not double the dose if it is already time for the next dose. Ondasat Oral Solution may cause some temporary side effects such as headache, constipation, diarrhea, and fatigue. These side effects usually subside once your child’s body adapts to the medicine. In case these side effects persist or become bothersome, do reach out to the doctor on a priority basis.

How it works
During radiotherapy, chemotherapy, abdominal infection, or any major surgeries, the dead cells in the body start releasing a chemical called serotonin directly into the blood. Later, this stimulates special centers in the body that are responsible for inducing vomiting in your child. Giving Ondasat Oral Solution just before the procedure helps block the effect of this chemical on vomiting centers of the brain and prevents vomiting.

What is Ondasat Oral Solution used for?
Ondasat Oral Solution is generally administered before major surgery or chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions. When a child is about to undergo any of the above procedures, their doctor may prescribe it to prevent vomiting post-procedure. In some cases, Ondasat Oral Solution is also helpful in treating vomiting caused by stomach illnesses. The doctor may prescribe this solution for a few days if the child is experiencing these symptoms.
What if my child takes too much Ondasat Oral Solution?
It is unlikely that giving an extra dose of Ondasat Oral Solution would cause harm. However, it's crucial to consult your child’s doctor immediately in case of accidental overdose. Exceeding the recommended dosage can lead to serious side effects like excessive drowsiness, agitation, rapid heartbeat, hypertension, flushing, dilated pupils, sweating, involuntary muscle jerks, uncontrolled eye movements, overactive reflexes, and seizures. These symptoms are collectively referred to as serotonin syndrome. In case any of these symptoms appear, consult the doctor immediately without delay.
How should Ondasat Oral Solution be stored?
Ondasat Oral Solution should be stored at room temperature in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Additionally, keep all medicines out of reach and sight of children to prevent accidental ingestion.
What all medicines should my child avoid while taking Ondasat Oral Solution?
Typically, it is not advisable to give Ondasat Oral Solution alongside antidepressant medications, apomorphine, anti-migraine medications, painkillers, heart medications, or antibiotics like linezolid. However, consulting the doctor before making any decisions about medicines for your child is crucial. Sharing their complete medical history with the doctor and following their guidance precisely is essential.
In what conditions do I need to call my child’s doctor right away?
Call your child's doctor immediately if they experience symptoms of serotonin syndrome, such as an irregular heartbeat, green-colored vomit, difficulty passing gas, pale skin and eyes, dark-colored urine, restlessness, and insomnia.
My child is having a migraine and is on medication. Can I give Ondasat Oral Solution along with it?
It's crucial to avoid combining Ondasat Oral Solution with medications for depression or migraine as they can lead to serotonin syndrome. It is vital to consult your child’s doctor before administering any medication.
