Frequently asked questions

Omprec 20mg Capsule and domperidone can be safely taken together, with no reported harmful effects. Domperidone increases gut motility, while Omprec 20mg capsule decreases stomach acid production. Do not take it if you are already taking medicines containing atazanavir or nelfinavir (used for HIV infection). Inform your doctor if you have any liver problems, persistent diarrhea, vomiting, blood in stools, unusual weight loss, difficulty swallowing, stomach pain, or indigestion. Tell your doctor about all other medications you're using as they may interact with Omprec 20mg Capsule. It should not be given to children under 1 year old or weighing less than 10 kg. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Yes, some individuals may experience diarrhea as a side effect. If it persists and is accompanied by stomach cramps, fever, get immediate medical attention.

Follow your doctor's guidance regarding the duration of treatment. The length may vary depending on your individual condition. Do not stop taking the medication without consulting your doctor.
Can Omprec 20mg Capsule cause calcium deficiency and osteoporosis?
It can contribute to bone thinning (osteoporosis) by decreasing calcium absorption, leading to a higher risk of fractures in long-term use. If you have osteoporosis or are taking corticosteroids (which may increase the risk of osteoporosis), consult your doctor for appropriate management. They might recommend calcium or vitamin D supplements to mitigate this risk.
What are the long term side effects of Omprec 20mg Capsule?
Prolonged use (over 3 months) may lead to some long-term side effects. Notably, low magnesium levels in the blood can occur, resulting in fatigue, confusion, dizziness, shakiness, and lightheadedness. Muscle twitches or irregular heartbeats can also be observed. For long-term use of more than a year, an increased risk of bone fractures (hip, wrist, or spine), stomach infections, and vitamin B12 deficiency may occur. Vitamin B12 deficiency could lead to anemia, resulting in fatigue, weakness, and pale appearance. Additional side effects include palpitations, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, indigestion, loss of appetite, flatulence, and nerve problems (numbness, tingling, and difficulty walking).
Does Omprec 20mg Capsule cause vitamin deficiencies?
It may lead to vitamin B12 and vitamin C deficiency. As Omprec 20mg Capsule decreases gastric acid secretion for absorption of vitamins, you may require Vitamin B12 supplements. The clinical significance of the decreased Vitamin C levels is not clear yet, so Vitamin C supplementation is not recommended.
