Introduction
Omitwell Oral Solution may be given before or after meals. To control vomiting caused due to chemotherapy, give this medicine to your child 30 minutes before the procedure. How it works
During radiotherapy, chemotherapy, abdominal infection, or any major surgeries, the dead cells in the body start releasing a chemical called serotonin directly into the blood. Later, this stimulates special centers in the body that are responsible for inducing vomiting in your child. Giving Omitwell Oral Solution just before the procedure helps block the effect of this chemical on vomiting centers of the brain and prevents vomiting.

Frequently asked questions
What is Omitwell Oral Solution used for?
Omitwell Oral Solution is generally administered before major surgery or chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions. It helps prevent vomiting following these procedures in children. If your child is scheduled for any of these treatments, their doctor may prescribe Omitwell Oral Solution to minimize post-procedural symptoms.
What if my child takes too much Omitwell Oral Solution?
Omitwell Oral Solution is unlikely to cause harm if a larger dose is accidentally given. However, it's crucial to contact your child’s doctor immediately. In rare cases, excessive intake of Omitwell Oral Solution can lead to serious side effects like excess sleepiness, agitation, rapid heartbeat, hypertension, flushing, dilated pupils, sweating, involuntary muscle jerks, uncontrolled eye movements, overactive reflexes, and seizures. These symptoms collectively constitute serotonin syndrome. If any of these complications occur, consult a doctor immediately without delay.
How should Omitwell Oral Solution be stored?
Omitwell Oral Solution should be kept at room temperature in a dry, dark area away from direct sunlight and heat. Ensure that all medications are inaccessible to children to prevent accidental intake.
What all medicines should my child avoid while taking Omitwell Oral Solution?
Generally, Omitwell Oral Solution is not recommended for combination with antidepressant medications, apomorphine, anti-migraine drugs, painkillers, heart medications, and antibiotics like linezolid. However, it's best to discuss all relevant medical details with your child’s doctor before making any medication decisions.
In what conditions do I need to call my child’s doctor right away?
Call a doctor immediately if your child experiences symptoms of serotonin syndrome, such as irregular heartbeat, green-colored vomit, difficulty passing flatus, pale skin and eyes, dark-colored urine, restlessness, and insomnia.
My child is having a migraine and is on medication. Can I give Omitwell Oral Solution along with it?
Omitwell Oral Solution should not be combined with medications used for treating depression or migraines as they can lead to serotonin syndrome. Always consult your child's doctor before administering any medicine, ensuring their medical history is thoroughly discussed.
