It is crucial to disclose all other medications you are taking as they could potentially interact with Omirus 20mg Capsule. If you have ever experienced an allergic skin reaction to this medication, inform your doctor. This medicine should not be given to children under 1 year of age or those with a body weight less than 10 kg. You should only take this medication for as long as your doctor prescribes. The duration of treatment will vary based on the specific condition and individual needs. Never stop taking it without consulting your doctor.
Can Omirus 20mg Capsule cause calcium deficiency and osteoporosis?
Yes, prolonged use may lead to calcium deficiency and osteoporosis. It does this by decreasing the absorption of calcium. This increases the risk of fractures in areas such as hips, wrists, or the spine. Your doctor will advise you on how to prevent this. They might recommend taking calcium or vitamin D supplements during treatment.
What are the long-term side effects of Omirus 20mg Capsule?
Prolonged use (more than three months) may lead to some long-term side effects. The most significant are low magnesium levels, which can cause tiredness, confusion, dizziness, shakiness or lightheadedness. Muscle twitches and irregular heartbeat could also occur. If used for more than one year, you might have an increased risk of bone fractures (due to decreased calcium levels in the blood) particularly in your hip, wrist, or spine. This medicine may also increase the chance of stomach infections. You can also develop vitamin B12 deficiency. Vitamin B12 is crucial for energy production and a lack of it can lead to anemia, which may cause you to feel more tired, weak, or pale. In some cases, you might experience palpitations, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, indigestion, loss of appetite, flatulence (gas), or nerve problems such as numbness, tingling and difficulty walking.
Does Omirus 20mg Capsule cause vitamin deficiencies?
It can potentially cause vitamin B12 and vitamin C deficiency. When taken orally, vitamin B12 requires an acidic environment for its absorption from the stomach while this medicine causes a decrease in gastric acid secretion. Therefore, you may need to take vitamin B12 supplements along with it. The clinical significance of the decrease in vitamin C levels is not known, so vitamin C supplementation is not recommended.
