Omed 20mg Tablet is best taken one hour before a meal, preferably in the morning. The dose will depend on your underlying condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep on taking it as prescribed even if your symptoms disappear quickly. You can increase the efficiency of the treatment by eating smaller meals more often and avoiding caffeinated drinks (like tea and coffee) and spicy or fatty foods.

Avoid alcohol and smoking. Avoid eating late at night or before bedtime. Long-term use of Omed 20mg Tablet can cause weak bones and a deficiency of minerals such as magnesium. Take adequate dietary intake of calcium and magnesium or their supplements as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking medication without talking to your doctor. Consult your doctor right away if you develop decreased urination edema (swelling due to fluid retention) lower back pain nausea fatigue and rash or fever. These could be signs of a kidney problem.

Can Omed 20mg Tablet cause calcium deficiency and osteoporosis?
Omed 20mg Tablet can cause osteoporosis (thinning of bones) by decreasing calcium absorption, leading to calcium deficiency. This increases the risk of bone fractures on long-term use, such as hip, wrist, or spine fractures. Inform your doctor if you have osteoporosis or are taking corticosteroids (which can increase the risk of osteoporosis) before starting your therapy. Your doctor may advise calcium or vitamin D supplements to reduce the risk.
What are the long-term side effects of Omed 20mg Tablet?
If used for more than 3 months, certain long-term side effects may occur. The most important of these is low magnesium levels in your blood, which may cause fatigue, confusion, dizziness, shakiness, or lightheadedness. You may also experience muscle twitches or irregular heartbeat. Prolonged use for more than a year may increase the risk of bone fractures (due to decreased calcium levels in the blood), stomach infections, and vitamin B12 deficiency. Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause anemia, leading to fatigue, weakness, or paleness. You may also experience palpitations, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, indigestion, loss of appetite, flatulence (gas), or nerve problems such as numbness, tingling, and difficulty walking.
Does Omed 20mg Tablet cause vitamin deficiencies?
Omed 20mg Tablet may cause vitamin B12 and vitamin C deficiency. Vitamin B12 requires an acidic environment for absorption from the stomach, which is decreased by this medicine. You may need to take vitamin B12 supplements along with it. The clinical significance of the decrease in vitamin C levels is not known, so vitamin C supplementation is not recommended.
Can Omed 20mg Tablet be used in cardiac patients?
Patients with cardiac disease can take Omed 20mg Tablet as prescribed by their doctor. However, it can interact with certain drugs (e.g., clopidogrel, digoxin) used by patients with underlying cardiac disease. Patients taking these medicines together need to be closely monitored by a doctor.
